Back in the Day through This Day
“Our perfect companions never have fewer than four feet.” - Colette
I have had cats and dogs most of my life. My first cat was red, OK, orange for your purists. His name was Nuper, and I shared him with my family. My other sister had a black tiger kitty girl, and her name was Deedle. Later in life, my mother had siamese kitties. When my mom was dying from cancer, my wife and I got two Siamese kitties for her. Kitties are part of the human soul, and they know it.
“In ancient times cats were worshipped as gods; they have not forgotten this.” - Terry Pratchett
Still later in life, in college, I had my first private kitty, and his name was Aragorn, "Strider." Moreover, my sisters bought my dad a Gordon Setter. They were bred to hunt game birds, and they were praised for their reliability. Gordon Setters were originally called black-and-tan setters, but their name was changed to Gordon Setter after Gordon's fourth Duke, who played a significant role in developing the modern breed. They are loyal to their family, past anything I have ever seen. I meet my wife in college partially because of my Gordon Setter. They will sleep on you. Guard you. Hunt with you. Shepard your children, Mine even attacked a coyote that wandered into our yard in front of my 8-year-old daughter. They are not typical.
“Life is better with a Gordon Setter."
We have two rescue kitties, but we have had a dozen or more kitties during the 40 plus years of my marriage. The included picture is of a time where we had reached our apex as a kitty slave. They ruled the house and even the dog. We took care of them.
